SameSense is the new name of LiveTranslate. During the transition, the App Store listing and some technical identifiers may still use LiveTranslate.

Start a meeting

Open Live, choose the source and languages, then press Record. LiveTranslate asks for microphone, calendar, or screen-audio access only when that feature needs it. Your recording continues even if optional cloud minutes run out.

Use dictation on Mac

Press and hold Option–Space, speak, then release to paste. A quick tap toggles hands-free dictation. If macOS cannot paste into another app, enable LiveTranslate under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

On-device or cloud

On-device processing is free and keeps audio on your hardware. It requires a one-time model download on a supported device. The optional cloud plan works immediately and can be changed from Settings → Engines. The current mode is always shown before you record.

Meetings across iPhone and Mac

When iCloud is enabled for LiveTranslate on devices using the same Apple Account, meeting details, transcripts, summaries, and backed-up recordings sync through your private iCloud database. Large recordings can take longer to appear.

Transcribe a downloaded recording

Choose Import audio in the library, then select an audio file or a video container that contains an audio track. LiveTranslate keeps the original file unchanged while it prepares the recording. On Mac you can also drag a supported file into the app. Long recordings show preparation progress before transcription begins.

Connect Claude or ChatGPT

Add the LiveTranslate MCP server from a compatible assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT. The assistant opens a LiveTranslate page and shows a short-lived code. In the App, open Settings → General → AI assistants, enter that code, then review the requested name, connection origin, and permissions before choosing Allow. A verified provider is identified explicitly; a name supplied by an unverified client is only a label. The connection uses the same cloud-minute balance as the App and never shares your Apple purchase receipt or iCloud library with the assistant. Every billable file shows a duration and minute estimate before transcription starts. You can revoke a connection from Settings at any time without cancelling your Apple subscription.
