Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-07-21
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you ("you") and Sacha Allard, an individual developer based in Qatar ("we", "us", "the developer"). They govern your use of the LiveTranslate application for macOS and iOS ("the App") and the optional paid cloud service described below.
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App. If you use the optional paid cloud tier, you also agree to the additional terms in Section 4.
2. App license
Your license to the App is governed by Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies in every region where we have not provided a custom license agreement through App Store Connect. These Terms supplement Apple's standard agreement for LiveTranslate Cloud, subscriptions, refills, acceptable use, and the other services described below. If these Terms conflict with Apple's standard agreement about the App license, Apple's standard agreement controls.
3. On-device use is free; cloud is an optional paid service
The App offers free on-device processing on supported devices. When you select it, transcription, translation, and supported summaries are produced locally and meeting content is not sent to the LiveTranslate Cloud proxy for AI processing. No LiveTranslate account or separate sign-in is required for free on-device use. Your meeting library may still sync through your private iCloud account when iCloud is available, as described in our Privacy Policy.
LiveTranslate Cloud is an optional processing mode available through an eligible trial or paid plan. You choose the processing mode during setup or in Settings. When Cloud is selected, audio needed for the requested meeting or dictation feature is sent over the network for processing as described in Section 7 and in our Privacy Policy. The cloud tier is a paid service governed by Section 4.
4. Subscriptions, auto-renewal, cancellation, and refill packs
Cloud features are sold through Apple In-App Purchase using StoreKit. Apple handles all billing.
- Subscriptions. "Cloud Plus" and "Cloud Pro" are auto-renewable subscriptions, offered on monthly and annual terms, each including a stated allowance of cloud minutes per period.
- Free trial. A 7-day free trial is available to new subscribers and includes a capped amount of cloud minutes. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription begins and you will be charged. Apple's trial rules apply.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple account settings (App Store). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf.
- Refill packs. "Refill" packs are one-time consumable purchases that add a number of cloud minutes. Refill minutes expire after the period stated at the time of purchase, after which any unused minutes are forfeited.
- Billing, price changes, and refunds. Payment is charged to your Apple account. Prices may vary by region and may change; material changes to a subscription price are handled per Apple's rules. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies; we generally cannot issue refunds directly.
Cloud minutes are consumed only when you use the cloud tier. On-device features remain free regardless of any subscription.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use the App lawfully and not to: use it to violate the rights of others; record or process audio you are not legally permitted to record or process; attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, or circumvent the cloud proxy or its usage metering; or use the cloud tier to send unlawful, infringing, or abusive content. We may suspend or limit cloud access if we reasonably believe these Terms are being violated or the service is being abused.
6. Your responsibility for recording and consent
Recording conversations, calls, and meetings is regulated in many places, and the rules differ by jurisdiction. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your recording, transcription, translation, and storage of any meeting is lawful, including obtaining the consent of other participants where required. You are responsible for the content you record and process. We provide a tool; we do not provide legal advice about whether you may record a given conversation.
7. Cloud tier and third-party processing
When you select LiveTranslate Cloud, audio needed for the requested meeting or dictation feature is sent over the network to our proxy server (a Cloudflare Worker operated by the developer), which may relay it to configured service providers for processing:
- AssemblyAI: speech-to-text and speaker diarization.
- Google Gemini and Cloudflare Workers AI: speech-recognition fallbacks.
- Cloudflare Workers AI: live translation and dictation processing.
- Anthropic Claude: translation, titles, summaries, cleanup, and other requested language tasks.
The proxy meters usage in minutes and does not intentionally retain audio after the request is processed; transcripts and results are returned to your device. The proxy retains the purchase, allowance, reservation, debit, refill, and audit records needed to operate the service and prevent duplicate transactions. Each provider processes data under its own terms and privacy policy. You should review the respective provider's privacy policy before enabling the cloud tier. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties, and your use of the cloud tier is also subject to their terms.
If you connect AIOS or another compatible webhook, you instruct the App to send finished-meeting data to the server you configure. You are responsible for that destination and for ensuring you are authorized to send the data there.
8. No warranty
The App and the cloud tier are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Transcription, translation, diarization, and summaries are produced by automated systems and can be incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading. You should not rely on the App's output as a verbatim or authoritative record. The App is not intended for, and must not be relied upon in, emergency, medical, legal, financial, or other high-stakes situations where errors could cause harm. Verify anything important independently.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the App or the cloud tier, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer's total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the App or the cloud tier will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the cloud tier in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and make the new version available where the App links to these Terms. Material changes that affect the paid cloud tier will be communicated as required by Apple's rules. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms and any dispute concerning LiveTranslate Cloud are governed by the laws of the State of Qatar, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Qatar have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere or requires another law to apply. The App license remains subject to Apple's Standard EULA.
